What exactly does 'Match Sticks' do?
- After filling out our Consultation Form, we will set up a quick call to go over the basics. Based upon the info gathered we will provide you with a menu proposal. Once a menu and package are chosen, you will receive an estimate with payment details and a 50% deposit will lock in your event date. Once that is set we will arrange for a 2nd, more in-depth consultation with one of our Certified Cigar Sommeliers. These personal details will allow up to curate the perfect arrangement for your event. When the big day arrives, we will set up our cutting and lighting station outside for 3 hours, and you and your guests will each get hand-picked cigar recommendations based on smoking experience, strength and flavor preferences. Anything left over will be packed and sealed in an airtight container with a humidification packet for you to take home for future enjoyment!
Are you a cigar roller?
-Cigar rolling is not currently a service that we offer. However, we feel that our services are preferable over a cigar rolling table for the following reasons:
Smoking a freshly-rolled cigar is not ideal. Fine cigars need to be properly aged and humidified, and while the tobacco leaves may be appropriately aged, they will still be moist from the vegetable glue used in the rolling process. The best thing to do with a fresh cigar is take it home and place it in a humidor for 2-3 weeks, after which it should be very enjoyable. 'Match Sticks' will arrive with cigars that are ready to light on the spot, and result in a nice even burn and and a pleasurable smoking experience.
Cigar rollers will typically only have 1 or 2 types of tobacco on-hand. This limitation will not allow you to accommodate the varying palates of you and your guests. 'Match Sticks' always provides 3-5 varieties of cigars, suitable for everyone from a first-timer to a seasoned aficionado.
The process of rolling a cigar takes time, and a line can form as your guests are waiting for their freshly rolled cigar.
Cigar rolling is an art form that requires focus. We at 'Match Sticks' pride ourselves on guest engagement, conversing with each guest and adding that personal touch.
Do you have a Mobile Cigar Lounge?
-A mobile lounge can provide a comfortable environment to smoke in, but is usually relegated to the venue parking lot. Do you want your guests to be leaving the venue to enjoy a smoke? 'Match Sticks' will set up your cigar station outside on the patio area so we are within steps of your venues main ballroom, making it easy to come and go as needed.
How many cigars do I need?
-Based on our experience, we recommend providing cigars for 60% of your expected guest count (i.e. 100 guests would need 60 cigars). This ensures that you have a sufficient amount on-hand for the guests to indulge and perhaps take one to go (sealed cigar bags are provided at no charge), while also having enough for first-timers who want to take part in the activity, and a handful or so left over to take home for the after-party or even on an anniversary!
Do you travel for events?
-Yes, we service all of New England (and the occasional destination event)! Details regarding travel charges are noted in our Additional Notes and Fees Disclosure, provided with your menu proposal.
What else does 'Match Sticks' offer?
-In addition to event services, we have gift options for Groomsman Gifts, Father of the Bride/Groom packages, and customized Cigar Bands and Match Boxes. Some of our accessories are also able to be monogrammed!
